My second visit to SpitBucket. The first video I've watched, so far.
Great video. Really enjoyed it.
But now some feedback from a wine ignoramus.
I thought based on the title (I know, how naive can I be) that it was going to be about decanting. It's something I wonder/worry about. I don't do it. Maybe, at most, I open a bottle an hour or so before drinking. So what about this decanting thing?
I'd like to see a video with two bottles of the same wine. One decanted earlier, one opened at the start of the video. Taste. Compare. Should I be decanting to get more out of my wine? Do all wines benefit from decanting? Is pouring a glass an hour before drinking the same as decanting, well . . . into a decanter?
Maybe there are other videos here on decanting that I'm not seeing.
Is this too basic a question?
Anyway, looks to be a great site.
Thanks, Gents.

@Stalebread i think we have actually done a vid looking at exactly what you are asking but it has not appeared on the site as yet (our tech people are swanning about europe on holidays, if you don't mind, but no doubt it will be up soon).
people have strong, and often different views on decanting. without giving away the vid, not all wines benefit but many certainly do.
the style of wine that i reckon really does need it but so rarely sees it is good white burgundies and good chardonnays. amazing how some of them open and improve with a little time.
old wines, you need to be careful, so as they don't fall over.
it is really worth doing a few experimenbts of your own at home.

Great site! I thought spitbucket.com would be a site for Red Man chewing tobacco enthusiasts, but I like wine too, so it's cool.
